Cosplayer Chiara Scuro > Costume of Princess Nuala Silverlance from Hellboy
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I started collected fabric for Nuala a year or so ago. The robe is 5 yards of gathered knit. I frankensteined a basic kimono pattern & a robe pattern to get the structure I wanted. The sleeves are a silk dupioni. The obi & the trim is a gold & white cross/sacrament brocade. I spent 3 days adding beads to the trim, & I still want to add more because there are not half as many as she wears in the movie, but I ran out. The shirt is a pleated shantung & the gown is a pleated silk that was gradient died from red, to dark red to dark brown.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I've been wanting to make this gown for 4 years now. I think she looks like a tamale' in it, but whatever, it's pretty. I am SO happy I got asked to join the Doug Jones group by Lindsay & Alyssa (in Fauno) even though my character is just in a movie with him & not played by him. Both Alyssa & Reith looked PHENOMENAL in their Angel of Death & Fauno costumes. What an awesome experience. I even got to take a photo with Doug Jones & we pressed our hands together at his request, like in the movie, & I think I died you gaiz. DREAMS DO COME TRUE AT DRAGON*CON .
