Cosplayer Vikki > Costume of Tsunayoshi Sawada from Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
Distressed an old shirt of mine with sandpaper and brown paint to give it a beaten-in look, since the outfit is what Tsuna wears to his fight with Xanxus. Most of the work went into the X-Gloves.
The X-Gloves are made with a pair of white gloves and a pair of black gloves with the fingers cut off. Craft foam and puffy paints were used to add the details to the fingers. A styrofoam ball and more craft foam was cut and glued together to make the Vongola crest on the back of the hands, painted with acrylics and puffy paints (for volume). To attach the crest, a piece of craft foam with tacks driven through it was inserted into the back of the glove, and the tacks were pushed through the crest to hold it in place. The wristbands are lanyard with grommets sewn down on craft foam. The bands were sewn to the back of the glove, and close around the wrist with a hook&eye.
The Dying Will Flame is red, yellow, and orange cellophane glued together. It clips to my hair.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I'd briefly considered making Tsuna years and years ago, but never got around to it. When RT expressed how much she wanted to make Gokudera's Varia Arc cosplay I thought it would be fun to join her, and this costume was born.
- Styling Notes
- This wig restored my confidence in myself after the disaster of my Phoenix Wright wig. The wig didn't require anything more than cutting a lot of length off, thinning the ends, and spiking with a basic hairspray.
- Wig Review
- As usual with Arda wigs, the volume is fabulous for achieving lots of thick spikes and the quality good for styling. This is one of their first light brown wigs and I'm looking forward to submitting a picture of the wig for their gallery, since the color was perfect for Tsuna.
