Cosplayer Adora > Costume of Polka from Eternal Sonata
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Where do I even start with this? I originally had this costume slated for last year's AX but it faltered due to extraneous plans getting in the way. However, I had to jumpstart for this year's con and it was surely an experience. All of the details on her sleeves, bandanna, brown bodice, and skirt were either hand-embroidered or painted on using fabric paint since I couldn't find the patches I ordered, oops. I combined her sleeves with the black undershirt she wears in the game due to the con's balmy weather and I didn't want to wear too may layers. The shawl used homemade trim that I cut out using leftover white twill and it was interfaced before sewing it all together and attaching it on.
The shawl, skirt, and bandanna are made using a salmon pink linen type of material to evoke the peasant feel she has and the brown bodice was made with gabardine. The black undershirt was made using a stretch twill. The white skirt Polka wears under the salmon colored one was left over from my Komachi cosplay and the shoe covers were the remainders of the salmon pink linen and a bit of white bias tape.
I ordered a parasol online and after a botched dye attempt, I decided to say screw it and take off the ratty lace it came with and hand tacked on the ruffled trim for her umbrella.
- Personal Thoughts:
- This outfit was like running a marathon with the dress construction, the umbrella, shoes, wig, and accessories all at once! There are a few details missing on the outfit, but I hope to revamp it for a future con to say the least!
