About this Costume
Construction Details:
Everything was made by me, including the glaive, which I unfortunately broke right after my last shoot by slamming it in a door. ^^;

The hardest part was sewing the sleeve petals into the bodysuit. I think that was the final nail in the coffin for my dying sewing machine.

The boots also required a fair amount of work- they originally had those ugly chunky things laces wrap around. I didn't like the look of those, so I removed them carefully with pliers, painted the boots, and then installed all the grommets. I had to mix several acrylic paints to try to match my satin, which turned out to be an impossible task, as satin changes color depending on the lighting and angle.

The brooch was a Christmas ornament which originally was covered in green glitter. I stripped off the glitter, sawed the back off with my dremel so that it was flat, spray painted it white, and covered it with white glitter.

All in all, I'm happy with the way it turned out, and I look forward to remaking my glaive out of more durable materials.
Personal Thoughts:
Of all the senshi, Saturn is probably the one with whom I have the most in common, at least during my early adolescence.

I love Hotaru because her physical frailty is counterpointed to her destructive power as a soldier. Plus, she reads (a very mangled translation of) W.B. Yeats' "The Second Coming" at the beginning of the 3rd volume of Super S. That automatically makes her awesome.
