Cosplayer Momo Kurumi > Costume of Michiko Malandro from Michiko to Hatchin
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I couldn't find any knits in the colors that I needed for Michiko's top, so I have to settle for woven fabrics. I picked a solid ugly dark yellow that complimented the bright orange which has an interesting print on it. Can't really describe the print, but it's like a gridded blot pattern, as if someone layered a finely woven basket over it. I don't know, haha. XD Anyways, everything on the tube top is done on bias, and there is no zipper, but there is a keyhole with an elastic band in the back, so I can wiggle out of it!
The skirt is a two-way stretch denim that has a subtle zebra/tiger print pattern on it. Also no zipper, as it is stretchy enough to slide on and off!
The earrings are from ebay, the necklace are purse chains from Joann, and the bracelets are bangles I already owned, plus a gold band from the flea market. I also already owned the glasses.
I still need to make the belt, but nothing I haven't done before! I made the same style belt for Michiko's jacket :3
- Personal Thoughts:
- Made this for the ACP + Funimation premiere of Michiko to Hatchin at Anime Boston 2013!
- Styling Notes
- Just trimmed the bangs and put in a bit of gel to have her front hair "wisp" in her bangs. I also like to bobby pin back some of the long side bangs to show off some of Michiko's amazing earrings. ;D
- Wig Review
- While this is a pretty style and wig, the side bangs make it hard for the earrings of the cosplay to be seen. May buy another Michiko wig in the future when I have a chance.
