Cosplayer Ifria > Costume of Aquawoman from DC Comics
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
Pants and top are made from mystique spandex/lycra. I wanted something fish scale-like so I figured a bit of glitz wouldn't hurt.
Both top and pants were made from Kwik Sew patterns.
Belt was heavy interfacing covered in gold vinyl. The "buckle" is made from Apoxie Sculpt and the rounded pieces are just cording slipped through gold vinyl casings.
I made the top on a dressform and cut/glued small "scales" to give it more depth.I really loved the way it turned out, as I was afraid it wouldn't fit me nicely with all that glue.
Boot covers were made around the craft foam fin and then the foam was sewn in so they would stand out instead of falling to the side.
Gauntlets and pauldrons are Worbla, smoothed out with wood glue and the resin was painted with nail polish, Kamui-style.
Earrings are little seashells my husband and I brought back from our honeymoon, painted gold and E6000'd some earring backs on them.
The sword was a prop rush the morning of. I bought two Halloween store swords, both with parts I wanted. I removed the hilt on the larger, pitted blade and glued/plaster wrapped the hilt of the other together. VOILA! Better sword!! Needs some work, but it was good for the time being.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I have a little crush on Aquaman, but I'm a bit wary of genderbends unless they're canon. THEN THIS HAPPENED.
I got to school some asshole nerds who thought it was appropriate to tell me how inaccurate my Rule 63 Aquaman was. LET ME TELL YOU SOME SHIT, BRO. TIME TO GET YOUR LEARN ON.
It was awesome so see them walk away, embarrassed, in front of their friends.
DO YOU LIKE FISHSTICKS?
- Wig Review
- Love the color and curl style, I just wish I had pumped up the front a bit to give it more UMPH.
