About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Blazers. What is it with me and blazers? This one went a lot better than my attempt at Fuu, but even so, I seem to have problems making suit coats that fit really well. I used Simplicity 2446 for it and tweaked so that I could button it up higher,a nd added the cuffs and the pocket flaps. My plan for my next blazer is to buy one from the Salvation Army that fits really well, take it apart, and use that as pattern pieces for all future coats (see: Mami).
The tan stuff is a suitings fabric; I have no idea what the purple is -- I got it on a clearance pile years ago and have been trying to find something to do with it ever since.
I made several versions of this skirt because the pleats of her skirt technically get larger as they go and my attempts at getting that to work in real life weren't going well. The version I ended up going with is twill and has rectangular box pleats but looks fine as far as I can tell. If I have time and spare fabric some day I may try again, but it's good for now. There's also an underskirt of leftover lining fabric to keep the skirt from bunching around my tights.
The bow is gold trim; I ran thin wire through it so that I could bend it into the funny shape that is her bow. :P I bought a red button and attached an alligator clip to it for the clip.
Arm-scythe in progress.
- Personal Thoughts:
- White hair! I love characters with white hair!
- Styling Notes
- This was an easy one. I got the wig from ebay and pretty much only had to razor bangs into it, as well as cut some shorter pieces to drape over my chest.
- Wig Review
- Whooo, ebay wigs! They're so silky! *Ahem* Yes, anyway...
