Cosplayer Setra > Costume of Rina from Suikoden II
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Started: Fall/Winter 2012
Completed: March 2013
Worn at: AnimeLand Wasabi 2013, Anime Matsuri 2013
Parts Made: Everthing above the ankles.
New Skills: cut-outs on polyester with heat knife, off-the-shoulder dress without boning, using o-rings as fasteners
Awarded: Best Skit at AnimeLand Wasabi 2013 (aka Only Skit)
The pink underskirt is more than 360 degrees (more than a full circle) in five panels, all french-seamed because the linen-rayon blend tends to fray. The black layer is fully lined except for the bottom five inches or so, so that the cut outs will show up. I modified and tailored to me, and miraculously stays up without boning. The top neckline and necklace/choker are all detailed with metallic embroidery and cut outs that were done with a wood burning tool to fuse the edges of the polyester. The chiffon drape is held together with a couple of O-rings, so it's adjustable. The chest/neck modesty panel is actually in her canon design, and is a swimwear lining mesh that happened to match my skintone really well.
- Personal Thoughts:
- This costume started out for Pas, who really wanted a Suikoden group. Since I understand the feelings of love one can have for a game no one has ever heard of, I agreed... and then I fell in love with Rina. She's a big sister, she's a magic-user, she's fighting to defend her family and friends, and she's not above getting her hands a little dirty to do it. She's my character type, if ever there was one.
- Wig Review
- This wig is soft, smooth, and flowing. I was lucky to find it without too much need for styling.
