About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- WHERE DO WE START....
OK, so I drafted out a pretty basic shorts pattern and based the top area off a bustier/waist-cincher I owned. It took me a few tries to get the pattern to work, but it wasn't too bad. I then used a four-way stretch yellow spandex for the main piece of the swimsuit and used a zig-zag stitch to piece everything together. The front areas of the top and bottom were especially tricky to do because one, I had to make sure the red panels on the bottom matched up well and two, the checkerboard motif was made by hand. I used a combination of leftover white and black lycra squares and stitched everything together to make it look as even as possible. The swimsuit was lined using two layers of nude (tan?) colored lycra and I sewed in a pair of lined bra cups for the top.
- Personal Thoughts:
- After this outfit, I never want to set my eyes on stretch yellow spandex ever again. Same goes for making a swimsuit for scratch :|. However, bumping into one of the lead animators of Motorcity totally made my con weekend though T_T.
