About this Costume
Construction Details:
the winter uniform is constructed from broadcloth, gray houndstooth, and the cheapest lining money could buy, haha. I learned a lot about garment construction from Alabaster Heart/RT/friendleaderp, who did the costume design for this project.

A McCall's costume pattern was heavily modified for the design. Each panel was cut separately and sewn back together to achieve the seam lines; the costume was fitted, then hand-embroidered using full white embroidery floss. We fully faced and lined the costume once the embroidery was done. The arm and waistbands were hand-stitched into the seams with a whipstitch.

The collar was made from gray houndstooth and broadcloth and interfaced to make it stand up. A detail we were careful to include was the quarter-inch of foldover houndstooth around the interior of the collar. Hook and eyes will be added later. Additionally, the front end of the collar ends at front center, so it is purposely disconnected from the button panel.

The chest insignia was made from an iron-on transfer and blanket-stitched to the costumes. The collar insignia were constructed from craft foam and pinned/sewn onto the collar.

The headphones are black Sony headphones hand-painted red, orange, and silver. Things I never want to freehand again: the Atlus symbol. asldfjksa;; A layer of nail polish achieves the laminated look.

I purchased the wrenches at a local 99-cent shop and painted the handles silver.

All in all Yosuke is a fully fitted lined professional garment and I'm really pleased with the final look!
Personal Thoughts:
I'd meant to make a Yosuke costume for years, then suddenly it all came together for Katsucon 2013. I learned a lot about garment construction by making this outfit! It took about 50 hours and it still has some little imperfections to fix, but overall I'm looking forward to wearing this again!
