Construction Details:

Sumire's kimono is bizarre and not following kimono rules. I made this one a two parter for easier wear and to help me get the shape right. The top follows the standard kimono pattern I use for cosplay, the bottom is more of a wrap skirt that flares out a little at the bottom. The flower details were done out of some spare white fabric I had kicking around that I airbrushed in some pink highlights and the yellow centers. I then satin stitched the flowers and leaves onto the kimono. The obi is craft foam wrapped in fabric that snaps in the back and has a pre-tied bow I made on the back.

Personal Thoughts:

PaXingCaiasked me to be the Sumire to her Sakura. I was happy to oblige since I frigin love kimono costumes and it takes very little convincing to get me to wear something so massively purple. I really love this costume for it's simplicity, good old classic anime and their simple designs!
