Cosplayer Shii Arisugawa > Costume of Midori Tsubaki from Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I decided to go with two half circle skirts (with a petticoat underneath for extra poof) for the bottom of the dress, which was pretty easy to put together. The tedious part was figuring out the spacing for the polka dots, which are painted on using foam pouncers and acrylic paint/fabric medium. The red mary janes are from my Erika Sako costume, and I already owned the button down shirt, belt, and cuff socks.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I've been fascinated and intrigued by ero guro ever since I discovered it several years ago, and one of my favorite artists is Suehiro Maruo. I've read all of his works that are scanlated, and one of my favorites (and probably most recognizable) is Shoujo Tsubaki a.k.a. Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show. Midori is such a precious yet tragic character, so I felt compelled to cosplay as her, and this was an easy costume to put together as I already had everything I needed.
- Styling Notes
- The wig was originally a bob cut, approximately 10" long on the sides, and slightly longer in the back. I sectioned and styled the blunt cut bangs first, which took the longest to make sure they were even. The wig was then trimmed about 2-3" all around, then I styled the shorter side bang pieces.
- Wig Review
- I tossed out my first wig for this, and reused one from a newly abandoned cosplay. I like this wig much better, the fibers are softer and thicker, I just wish this was a more flattering hairstyle. Oh well. XD
