About this Costume
Construction Details:
HERE WE GO, TOP TO BOTTOM
Helmet is an old construction hat refabricated. I drilled holes into the border with an acrylic bit to ring the pieces of leather. The moon is a piece of duron that I laser cutted (thanks to heulangel for helping me with the template!)
Eyepatch is craft foam and fabric with cut strips so I can breathe (ugh, as if my vision was bad enough LOL)
Shirt is a cut up shirt that I added the collar and sleeves to.
Jacket is a white upholstery fabric heavily modified from a pattern. The lightning and dragon are appliques and the bias is matching fabric that I made.
The chest piece is a large piece of leather. The clan symbol (which I added for a personalized touch) is rastered with a laser cutter, and stained with ruff n buff. The entire plate is stained black, then the outlines of the symbol were painted over to create a better contrast. The bottom panels are also leather.
YES THAT IS REAL 20 POUND CHAINMAILE. I borrowed it from heulangel xD
Pants are made from a pattern with the same upholstery fabric.
ALL ARMOR is 6-8 gauge leather that has been patterned, cut, edged with strips of leather, and stained.
Tabi socks are bought, as are the shoes which I modified with extra straps.
Sandals are modified and used in other cosplays, haha.

Swords are still being worked on, but I hope to get those done soon!

First debuted at San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival 2013

Personal Thoughts:
This was literally a "blood, sweat, and tears" costume. It still needs work, but I FINALLY feel like I'm giving justice to my Basara/Masamune cosplays xD
