About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- The dress was made with a super soft weighty fabric (can't remember what it was called) with a cotton lining inside to keep it from being see-through at all. I wanted to base the outfit on her in-game look, so I made the pockets on the back yellow instead of green. I used a grey metal zipper for the front and shaped Crayola clay over the zipper pull for her pendant. The overall hooks were shaped out of a thick wire so they would be triangles just like hers, but the buttons are from an overalls hook set I had. The boots were bought on ebay and the belts came from the kid's department at WalMart. I had to paint them a tan color because I couldn't find any like that already. Then I just used an x-acto knife to cut slits around the boots for the belt loops. The wrist band was made from leftover fabric from my Spike cosplay. It's sewn so there's no raw edges and it has a little stretch. The ends have velcrow so there's no tie.
Also, for some reason this costume won't update with the wig info, so here it is: The wig already had a great style for Selphie. I just added some Got2b spiking glue to make the curls more defined and flipped higher. I had some huge hair rollers with a velcrow-like cover. I tore the cover off so they were smooth plastic and pinned the hair around them, then just smoothed some of the hair glue over it. It worked great! The wig brand was either New Look or Sepia. I bought it from Coswerx years ago. I've tried to find this same wig since they closed and haven't been able to find any trace of it sadly. - Personal Thoughts:
- Selphie was always one of my favorite cosplays, and I've always wanted to make it better. After a couple years of not wearing it, I tried it on again and found that it didn't fit right anymore. So I finally decided to remake it. This time I put everything into it. I got a great fabric, cotton lining, new belts for the boots, made the triangle overall hooks myself, and made a new wrist band. I'm soooooo happy with how it all came out! This is definitely one of my new favorite cosplays!
