Cosplayer Elly~Star > Costume of Catelyn Stark from Game of Thrones
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I had a really hard time of figuring out whether Catelyn's outfit was green or blue. Some descriptions said it was green, some said it was blue. I ended up going with green because I found really great dark and light wool blends in shades that went together well. Plus the HBOGo special features said it was green (but they said Catelyn wore "the green of her house" - um, what?). If I were to remake it, I might do it in bluer shades to tie in more with the books.
I used a long coat pattern for the dark green coat, and the "LoTR"-ish pattern for the light green dress, but I swapped the sleeves between the two. The patterns were very simple and straightforward, as there isn't a lot of detail to them. I ended up finished the edges of the coat and hem of the dress in the hotel room of the con with stitchwitchery (plus I wanted a hem without stitches and was too lazy to do a blind hem).
The undershirt is made out of linen, but I made a dickie and cuffs to simplify the design even further. I made the fish pin out of Sculpty and spray painted it gold.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Catelyn is by far one of my favorite characters in A Song of Ice and Fire. The Tully House's motto of "Family, Duty, Honor" is something that is very important to me as well.
- Styling Notes
- I pulled the sides away from my face and pinned them with bobby pins.
