About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Dress was constructed from 14 yards of pale Ivory Bridal Satin. It was nice and thick and irons very well.
The skirt is composed of two pieces, the first being the bell-shaped base, with the rounded scallops on the front, and the second piece being the feather-shaped train. The golden ruffles on the front are made of a gold satin which was three times the length of the scallops (a lot of gathering was had!).
The bodice was made based on a corset type pattern (current pattern number eludes me) and is in 3 layers. It has an outside shell made of the same bridal satin with the gold bird design applique and satin stitched on for stability, an inner layer of muslin which held the boning channels in, and a soft cotton inside lining. Boning is flexible spiral steel boning.
Undergarments include a skin tone colored tank top, a waist cincher/corset, and a very very large fluffy crinoline (used most often in Quincenera dresses).
Dress has been worn with both gold flats and pointe shoes.
Necklace is made from glass ivory pearls, and a bright red crystal drop (to represent Mytho's heart shards - you can't get any good details on her necklace in the show).
Crown is made from polystyrene sheeting and is spray painted gold. - Personal Thoughts:
- I absolutely love this particular costume. I love the Series Princess Tutu, and I thought this a wonderful way to express that. While the dress only has like 30 seconds of screen time, it's so beautiful and simple. I feel like real princess when I wear this!
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- This wig is mostly heat styled with a little bit of Got2BeGlued hairspray. It has since deflated, and will be restyled very soon.
- Wig Review
- I absolutely love Arda's wigs - they have such a natural feel to them, along with a ton of wefts. I would recommend them to anybody!
