Cosplayer Kara Dennison > Costume of Shaz Granger from Ashes to Ashes
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- The brocade was imported from India -- a bit darker than onscreen, but all I could find. I had to do a lot of adapting to get that extra frill and bow right. The hat is a cardboard based with a fabric cover; the red stripes were hand-painted on. As for the stockings, they're two layers: red sparkles covered by black lace. All the jewelry and other accessories were store-bought.
That brocade was a nightmare, incidentally. It frayed left and right.
- Personal Thoughts:
- What is this? This season (theroetically) took place in 1983. But this doesn't look 80s-era. It doesn't look ANY era, to be honest. Besides the fact that it was so off-the-wall and pretty design-wise, I loved the fact that its complete nowhere-nowhen-ness (and borderline mourning style) sort of mirrored the surreal feel of the last season leading up to the ending.
