About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- The skirt and underskirt were made using an altered Butterick crinoline underskirt pattern, and done in linen and bleached muslin, respectively. The underskirt also has lace sewn to it to imitate Disney's scalloped underskirts that are on pretty much every Disney princess/character. =P The scarf is just a triangle of satin with trim handsewn on- coins are wooden nickels painted with holes drilled in for threading! The corset is boned underneath all of the stripes, and for comfort, is done in a velour and lined with a knit interlock. Stripes were handsewn on and it has five large snaps in the back to close it. The blouse is linen and the pattern was drafted by me. Headband is covered with fabric and added flyaways.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I have always been in love with Esmeralda ever since I was a kid. I remember having these awesome pajamas of her as a kid- those things were legit, better than any Halloween costume out there. XD I've always been fascinated by her beauty, just the way she's animated is absolute perfection! Love her color scheme too. :3
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- The glinda is great for Esmeralda's full hair but I also got two curly ponytail clip ons and sewed those pieces into the wig to add more fullness and lengthen the hair.
- Wig Review
- The size of the hair always freaks me out when I look into a mirror. I've never had big hair. Ever. It's awesome. XD
