Cosplayer Ingrid > Costume of Utena Tenjou from Revolutionary Girl Utena
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- For the jacket, I modified a Simplicity pattern. It was actually my first time using a "real" pattern for something, and, boy, was it a learning experience.
The pseudo-pauldrons are made of craft foam and styrofoam balls, which were really easy to work with and lightweight.
The costume was a bit of a challenge to make because it was my first ever jacket and first ever pattern mod.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Utena has been on my to-do cosplay list for years. I am so glad I finally got her finished this year!
I adore her duelist uniform from the movie, so I chose that over her series uniform.
This is still a WIP--there are some details I'd like to fix up a bit, but overall, I was so excited to wear this.
- Styling Notes
- I cut the bangs into this wig, and gave it more of an Utena mullet-esque effect.
- Wig Review
- I absolutely love EpicCosplay's wigs; the fit is always snug, and the colors are rich and vibrant. However; I wish their curls stayed a bit better, and didn't frizz so easily.
