About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I tie dyed about 4 yards of cotton for the meat, using Tulip brand spray dye in red and cranberry to get a wide range of colors. It was dyed multiple times to make sure it appeared very random and not tie dyed, then cut into lots of random sized and shaped pieces. I sewed a very basic halter dress out of red jersey knit cotton then draped several layers of the meat cloth over it to give it lots of layers and a textured look. I also sprayed a light layer of clear coat over patches of it to give it a more shiny, meat-like look.
For the shoes I cut long stripes of the meat fabric and wrapped them around an old pair of wedge sandals, attached with garment tape before wrapping string around them. The meat clutch was just a clutch purchased at a thrift store and covered with the remaining meat.
