About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The dress is a 4 way stretch, which I've only worked with once before. I drafted it on my dressform so the top is formfitting but the skirt drapes. One day I will improve it, and find a way to keep it from twisting when I take a step, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it. The cape is casa satin, faced at the neckline. There's a corset and some augmented boobs going on to give this the hourglass shape.
I already owned the wig and booties, but hope to improve them for next time. I was very happy to find purple nail polish with green incandescence, and went with a dark plum lipstick to complete the purrfect look. (Had to work in 1 pun!) - Personal Thoughts:
- Originally I wanted to make the 1966 television series version of Catwoman, but Spandex House was all out of stretch black lame, and that's the only place that seems to carry it. They had this cool metallic purple instead, so I bought 2 yards of it planning to make the suit, but at the last minute I ran to Joann's for green satin and whipped up this version instead.
This version is a combination of elements from her look in "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" and the 1940's costume. There are a zillion variations of this- the slit can be on both sides, the skirt and cape vary in length, etc. I just went for a combination that I liked.
Catwoman & Batgirl are my favorite batladies, so this was only a matter of time!
