About this Costume
Construction Details:
The cape is blue cotton and was pretty simple construction-wise, but I took my time getting the proportions right and making the number of white diamonds accurate to the reference in the artbook! The card suit symbols are painted on both sides and bells are hand-sewn to the bottom.

I made the dress from black twill and a simple strapless princess seam pattern.

The top hat was bought from a costume shop. I covered it the cape material and added a white satin ribbon. The gloves were bought and modified/stuffed for the poofy look - in the future I'd want to get an actual pair of gauntlet gloves. Boots I already had and I just wore black socks underneath.

I hand sculpted the buttons and earrings from Paperclay. The brooch is Paperclay and craft foam. I used craft foam for the hair bands and the heart-shaped bag as well.

The neck scarf was made from leftover fabric from my Apollo costume :)

Personal Thoughts:
I LOVE the backstory of the Gramarye family and I think Thalassa is a really interesting character. I also love the card suit scheme and matchiness of the Gramarye Troupe outfits, so I commandeered some friends to be my Zak and Valant. We wore these to AX 2010 and had an amazing time, at the Ace Attorney gathering and around the con in general. I am really, really happy with how this turned out! It's one of my favorite costumes and I feel like a real magician! :P I should learn some actual tricks beyond being the target for "Zak & Valant's Quick-Draw Shootem"...
