Cosplayer MsWololol > Costume of Sayaka Miki from Madoka Magica
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
I made every part of the costume, except the socks / shoes!
The uniform top was a heavily modified jacket pattern for Simplicity, and a side blog on tumblr has construction progress pictures / a tutorial on how to make it. Puff sleeves were drafted from scratch and incorporated in. The front is done up with an invisible zipper that I stitched in by hand; front / collar is also fully faced. Bias tape was sewn on, and the lace pieces measured and sewn on by hand. Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out!
I lucked out and found plaid fabric with the perfect colour scheme, and I made a box-pleated skirt from it. It's very simple, essentially a pleated rectangle, but I'm happy with the measurements for each pleat as well as how it looks overall.
The white shirt / bow is an undershirt, also a modified pattern (from Burda this time), with a standing collar and zipper closure in the back. The bow was made seperately and secured to the neckline so it wouldn't shift around.
All in all, I'm extremely pleased with how the costume looks!
- Personal Thoughts:
- Sayaka is a character with whom I relate VERY strongly, and even identify with a bit. So, it was an amazing experience to cosplay as her - and continues to be so.
- Wig Review
- The wig is extremely soft and non-tangling, and the color is fantastic : )
