About this Costume
Construction Details:
The skirt is two layers, the over skirt and the under skirt. The over skirt is made of heavy cotton sateen and the under skirt is a lighter stretch sateen. For the design on the skirt, I made a mock up pattern for the tree, and then cut out 4 different sizes of circles for the "leaves". All the applique is done with heat n' bond and then satin stitching, which I worked on off and on for about 4 days.

For the blouse, I drafted a pattern. It was relatively easy and took me about a day to make. All seams on the skirt and blouse are finished with French seams.

The hat was probably the biggest challenge for me and I don't really like how it turned out. I'd like to remake it in the future, along with Ioryogi. The hat is made from the same fabric as the overskirt and is stiffened with buckram. I made the crown too small becuase I forgot to take into account for the wig, so it's kind of tight and uncomfortable.

Personal Thoughts:
I love Kobato so much! She reminds me so much of myself, especially how clumsy she is! Although I love all her outfits, this one seemed pretty easy to make and I absolutely love the design on the skirt and the colors! :D I figured it would be perfect for summer, too!
