About this Costume
- Construction Details:
Gonna take this apart bit by bit.
Toga: Made by me. The butt-skirt trim was hand painted and hand-sewn. The whole thing was held together by many, many pins.
Shoes: Made by me and sewn onto existing flipflops I bought. Many parts of it are held together by super glue. XD;;;
Accessories: Arm and leg bracelets were made with craft foam. Bracers made from foam cup holders between two rings of foamboard covered with paperclay and sanded for what seemed like forever. Wreath made from rubber-coated wire and fake leaves and falling apart. Next time, directly glue leaves to the wreath. This was sewn to the wig. Belt from fake leather, hot-glued bias on and fastened with velcro. Belt accessories made from foamboard and craft foam. I kind of want to remake these but I don't know of a better way...
Wings: Made by me and attached like a backpack. Very heavy, wobbly, and I should be altering the straps to a crisscross version later for comfort and stability. A great way to be a convention hall roadblock.
Blades: Pink insulation foam covered with paperclay and sanded for eternity. Unfortunately, the tips chipped during Fanime 2012 so I will be remaking a new pair someday out of more durable material.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Blood, tears, and all my money and time. But finally putting it all together was... words cannot describe. Will be re-making bits and pieces of it soon!
- Styling Notes
- This is actually kind of 2 wigs. Magnum plus another Magnum skintop. Cut and spiked with Got2be glued.
- Wig Review
- Great wig, but not the best and most cost-efficient way to do this. I should have gone with a punky to get a better effect. Arda's wigs have already too much hair for my head so two wigs wasn't even necessary and I found the Magnum not to have enough "poof" on top as I wanted it to be. I tried... ;___; Wig was big for my head as always but much better than being tight and not enough fiber. Great wig, thick, super awesome quality~
