About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- DUN DUN DUN! Belle is my fierce bitch! Bodice was made with no pattern, but was basically created just like my Rapunzel bodice. It has light boning throughout, and laces up in the front like the real deal. I found out much too late from the extra features on the DVDs that her bodice is actually a different material than her skirt, and that the skirt is linen and the grommets are light gold. FFFFFFFFFFFFF!!! Had I only known then what I know now! The shirt was also created with no pattern from a thick-ish chiffon I already owned. The detailing is lace. The necklace was lovingly borrowed from my mom who has more jewels than the royal family. I've worn two different pairs of shoes with this. The first (in the outdoor shots) is a pair of pumps that I added the top part to, as well as the ankle strap, then painted everything light blue. They close with Velcro and are incredibly uncomfortable. The second pair (from the convention shots) belonged to my friend's late grandmother, and when she was going through her grandma's things she thought they looked very Belle-like and gave them to me. I painted them, as well, and they were much more comfortable! I did pair socks with them for walking around Dragon*Con, so that may show a bit.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Did an outdoor shoot while the costume was still in progress to get an idea of what needed to be fixed up. I have too many feelings about this character!
- Styling Notes
- Just needed to trim the longest layer. Put it back in a half ponytail and then flipped it in on itself. Made a side part and pinned the bangs back. Hair sprayed everything in place, and scrunched it to try and make the curls pop more.
