Construction Details:

Materials: Cotton jersey, cotton sateen, craft foam, resin jewelry (self made), snaps, elastic, poly fill, and a long blue wig.

Time: Approx 40 hours.

Character: To date, Ami/Sailor Mercury has been my favorite anime character. When I was younger I could easily relate to her. I know it sounds odd, but she got me through a lot of rough patches as a teenager. This was my homage to Sailor Moon.

Construction: I ended up patterning everything myself, including the leotard. It was just easier that way. The key features is that everything is detachable, so if I’m possessed to make another Sailor Scout outfit I don’t have to make another leotard. Including the sleeves! The wig was a little below neck length, but was cut and styled by me.

I’ll probably remake the tiara, but overall I love the result.

Styling Notes

I chose a longer wig because the shorter wigs were too choppy in the back, and Mercury's hair is more of an even bob. So I spent about an hour cutting it down, and another 4 hours styling it to get the curls just the way I wanted them too.

First time using an Arda wig, and will use them again!
