About this Costume

Personal Thoughts:
This is my very first cosplay so I wanted my first costume to be a character that was not as well known. I watched the 4 episode ova in 1991 or 92 and it quickly became one of my favorites. I cut and styled wig, made 2 dresses and obi belt. Making the dress was a little bit of a challenge for me because there seems to be so many different variations! So this is the style dress I decided on.
I have a bit of stage fright so I challenged myself to wear it at Katsucon 18 (2012) and I just wore it again at Katsucon 19 (2013). I did some updating- restyled wig, made a new obi and have a few recent photos.
I really hope to continue working on my new character and have it all finished by next convention. ~ cheers

Styling Notes
I straightened my curly Luthien wig with a flat iron and cut the bangs. I kept the cut hair from the bangs to use in the bun. I made a half sphere out of Styrofoam, sprayed it with brown paint, covered it some nylon stocking (made it easier to bobby pin to the hair later) then laid the strains of hair over it and hot glued the ends underneath. Tied up part of the hair to make the ponytail and bobby pinned the syrofoam above the ponytail. Taking the rest of the hair on the wig I slowly started pinning and spraying strands around the syrofoam form. So this style only has one attachment which is the half sphere for bun. There are no extensions for ponytail the wig has that much hair to work with. It is a great synthetic wig and it put up with a ton of torture.
Wig Review
Looks like real hair and looks great out of bag. It is really thick and tough. Survived a couple washings and two and a half brutal styling times.
