Construction Details:

The skirt in itself was kind of crazy. I used white Jacquard Neopaque fabric paint with two types of tape: regular masking tape and 3/8" scrapbooking tape. This was to get the stripes as close to the original design as possible. The whole stripe-painting process took about 3 hours total and I've made 3 of these uniform skirts to date. BANANAS.

Anyway. I drafted the blouse top myself. I went with a variation on the lantern sleeve for the poofy princess sleeves. It's hard to keep them constantly fluffed up for pictures, so I may add some interfacing later. The trim is bias tape and I added 2 non-functional single welt pockets. The lace was hand-sewn on.

I made a dickie for the collar which I just pin to my bra. The dickie zips up in the back and the blouse zips up in the back as well. This created structural issues for the peep hole in the back, but...I wrestled with it enough, really.

The hair bows are wired 5/8" satin ribbon

Personal Thoughts:

As much as I would have liked to make Madoka's magical girl outfit, I don't see very many uniform cosplayers and I feel that Madoka as a regular girl is a really integral part of the show. And, you know, I might want to cosplay Sayaka or something, too. :3a

Styling Notes

I had to cut down a lot of excess hair and shape the pigtails and bangs down to look closer to her spiky non-magical girl hair.
