Cosplayer Rya > Costume of Rose DeWitt Bukater from Titanic
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- This dress, though it doesn't look it, has probably about 10 yards of fabric in it. It should be all chiffon, but I'd never worked with it before so only the top two skirt layers and the sash are, while the rest is georgette. The base pattern is an old Simplicity one that came out after the movie was released, but I made some big modifications. Nearly the whole dress is either french seamed, rolled hemmed, or narrow hemmed. The bodice was beaded by the wonderful Ali. The Heart of the Ocean necklace was bought off of eBay (level T3 rank) since apparently someone still makes them in the US.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I'm amused that Titanic was already on the list here. I'm probably a bit early with my movie replica dress since the re-release hasn't come out yet, but the 100th anniversary of the sinking is this April and I wanted to make this in time for a shoot in a lovely location. Thank you, Jet, for such fantastic photos.
- Wig Review
- The wig does have a side part, and bangs that automatically sweep to the side.
