About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
For such a simple costume there was a lot of work that went into making this costume crisp and clean.
All of the trim was heat n bonded and satin stitched onto the jacket and collars. The diamonds on the leggings were airbrushed using handmade stencils (I really like how these turned out).
The shield was made out of EVA foam with shrink plastic, wonderflex, paperclay and silicon caulk. I made the small gears out of shrink plastic, and the dome cover from wonderflex. I cast 2 red resin gems, and painted and weathered it with acrylics.
I had intended to have the shield light up, but ran out of time, something to add in the future. - Personal Thoughts:
- I made this costume for a skit for the WCS. I didn't like Homura at first but the more I learned about her the more I came to love her. I do think that I will go back and braid the wig and do her earlier self, since I enjoy that Homu more.
I am not 100% happy with the result and there are a few things I want to go back and correct, like remaking the white ruffle skirt to be longer so it doesn't hide under my pleated skirt.
Wig Details

- Homura Akemi
- Original Color:
- Dark Grey
- Styling Time
- 20 minutes

- Styling Notes
- The bangs were trimmed to fall above my eyebrows and an inverted V was trimmed into the back of the wig.
- Wig Review
- Very lovely color, and fairly silky texture. It tangles very easily and is prone to looking messy because of that.
It has an average thickness for a long wig, but tends to look too thin and stringy.
