Cosplayer Elly~Star > Costume of Schala Zeal from Chrono Trigger
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- A friend of mine gave me lots and lots of purple silk about two years ago, and I always said I was going to make Schala. It's a little dark for Schala, but too gorgeous to pass up. Finally, about two weeks before Katsucon I decided to crank it out.
The top was patterned from the same bodice mockup I used in my Cinderella costume. I used the sleeves pattern from McCalls 4491 and used from the waist down of the dress part of the pattern for the skirt, adding in a zipper in the back. The large collar was drafted on my dressform and it closes in the back with a hook and eye. White 1/2" bias tape was added to the edge.
The details along the collar, sleeves, top, and skirt were done with my super awesome new sewing machine. I used a decorative zig zag stitch with metallic purple embroidery thread. I made the pendant using a bronze medallion that I spray painted gold, then added a large blue bead with E-6000.
- Personal Thoughts:
- This makes 2 out of 3 costumes that I've remade from my first disastrous cosplays at Otakon 2004. Naru from Love Hina would be the last. I should get on that.
Chrono Trigger is amazing and if you haven't played it, go play it already.
- Styling Notes
- Schala's hair is actually a pony tail, but I like the effect of a half pony tail. Plus I didn't have time to create a pony tail wig and Arda's Jeannine didn't come in this color. I used a hair clip to hold the ponytail up and in place, and pinned a piece of orange fabric around it.
- Wig Review
- I love, love, love this color for Schala.
