About this Costume
Construction Details:
The armor is all wonderflex except for the head. The head is wonderflex base with paperclay sculpt on top of it. The swords on the head are SmoothCast 320 that was casted from a DragonSkin mold with a sculpey prototype. The flags are Martha Stewart Crafts food picks and Archer Farms label lol. The tendrils coming from the head are wonderflex, also. The collar is made from this really thick double-sided fusible interfacing, the checkered diamond pattern is spandex with heat and bond. The shoulders are also made from that thick interfacing, as is the panel that covers my lower torso (with spandex and painted details). The mermaid tail is all spandex except for the fin, which is made from a fuckton of different fabrics. I made it into a mermaid tail style dress instead of a mermaid tail because I'm clumsy and any advantage I can get on not falling on my face is a plus. PHEW.

Personal Thoughts:
This ended up being a very personal project for me and I pretty much went at it for 1.5 months with a unhealthy obsession. At the risk of sounding like a goddamn loser, I've never identified so well with a character. On a more shallow note, the design had all the elements in it that make costume-making enjoyable for me: painting, armor, masks, sculpting/casting, and creep factor.
