Construction Details:

This costume was my first attempt at sewing. I bought my first sewing machine specifically to make this outfit. The bodysuit is made of two way (not four way) stretch spandex, which is it's main flaw. I couldn't sit down or bend over in it without ripping it or strangling myself! Don't make the same mistake I did! Everything on the suit is hand fabricated, which proved very difficult at times. I really like the detailing and feel it retains the simplified, clean look of the animation. To complete the costume, I took the plunge and cut my bangs. I'm happy with the way my hair turned out as sort of a hybrid between Sadamoto's strawberry blonde Asuka and the animation's red hair.

Personal Thoughts:

This costume was my FIRST EVER so I really feel that I could do it much more justice if I remade it now, when it is much easier to find stretch vinyl, wet-look spandex, etc! Back then the fabric options were a lot more limited!
