Cosplayer Lulu Miyazawa > Costume of Kotori Monou from X/1999
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I didn't want to go with something extremely simple, but I didn't have time to sew one of her complicated princess frilly dresses with tons of lace, so I chose something in-between: the back cover of volume 6. Since it wouldn't be a CLAMP cosplay if you didn't have to design part of the dress because the illustration doesn't show it, that's where I added some personal touches XD It ended up having quite a few meters of lace and looking a bit like a wedding dress from the last century, but I suppose I like it, and it made me look girly, which I guess it's not that bad once in a while XD I made the flower crown as well, but wings were bought since I didn't have much time as I said.
- Personal Thoughts:
- As strange as it may sound (because most of the fandom hates her), I've always loved Kotori. The innocent girl trapped in a spiral of doom, like a drop of light between all the darkness that is X. Her cruel fate and her truncated willingness to help always moved me to tears. So even though I hate most of her wardrobe for being so painfully cheesy, I ended up cosplaying her XD
A lovely group of girls thought of me for making an X group (love you :*), and of course I happily accepted since they're awesome and I love the series. Originally, we were all going to cosplay the costumes in these two illustrations (http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/8477/xred.jpg || http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/3665/xblue.jpg), but I didn't feel confident enough to go with my favourite character appearing in them (which is Nataku) both for my body and my lack of sewing and crossplay make-up skills, so I went with Kotori instead.
- Wig Review
- Did I say I'm in love with my wig? I know it's not absurdly long like her hair in most illustrations, but all those different colors and the sunny tips are adorable
