Cosplayer Envel > Costume of Nyuu/Lucy from Elfen Lied
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I absolutely love Elfen Lied. I fell in love with the anime and then read the manga, and then I fell in love with it even more. Even if no one else likes the manga ending, I love it.
I loved Lucy so much more in the manga than in the anime, she has so much more to her that the anime doesn't even touch, and of course if I picked an outfit of hers, I had to pick the most random, color-blind, "I got dressed in the dark" outfit she had.
The hat I made out of some blizzard fleece from JoAnn. I just kind of doodled out a shape, made a mockup out of some cotton I had lying around, and adjusted it until it was about the right size, then made the actual thing out of the fleece and hot glued the little poof balls onto it.
The wig I bought on eBay, I just trimmed the bangs a bit.
The pink turtleneck was made entirely from scratch from some pink interlock on the red tag table. I lettuce edged the sleeve and bottom hems because I thought that was kind of what it looked like in some of the screencaps... it was hard to tell if it was a scalloped edge or lettuce edge, so I went with lettuce because it was something I hadn't done before.
The red tank top I purchased from Wal-Mart. Then, I attached the thin white trim across the bust, and added the ruffled straps onto it.
The skirt I made entirely from scratch with a lightweight cotton. I used offwhite rather than white ruffles because the white ruffles clashed too much in real life, even though they are more white in the references. The skirt has an elastic waistband.
I bought purple Ugg-like boots because they were the closest boots I could find to hers. I originally bought a pair that was a lot closer, but they didn't fit right, and the dark purple Uggs were as close as I could get. I made the white trim on the top of the boots with very thin leather pieces, which I painted white and glued onto the boots. Though the purple color isn't wholly accurate, I do like the way it looks.
PS: Special thanks to evaunit01berserk for being nice enough to hold some of the flash/lighting equipment because the wind was mightier than the reflector thing. :)
PSS: Special thanks to Ahura for letting me borrow a bit of his fake blood at the VERY last minute just because I wanted to play with it for the photos.
