Cosplayer Melfina > Costume of Kagura Tennouzu from Speed Grapher
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- The top is a strapless bra I already had, covered in white spandex. All of the marabou trim was hand-sewed in place, and the particular marabou boa I used has shimmery tinsel strands in it! I liked the effect the tinsel had opposed to using the plain white marabou feathers. I also sewed some strap holders onto the top of the bra top, which I was able to lace a clear bra strap through (as a halter strap).
The bottoms were patterned from scratch, and I looked at a string bikini bottom that I had for reference. I used silver stretch cable for the side strappy things, and reinforced it with a strip of nude colored spandex mesh. I stuck crystal AB rhinestones along the top of the front panel.
The "thigh-highs" are the same matching spandex, sewed with a seam in the front and back to match the reference artwork. Marabou trim was again hand stitched at the tops, along with elastic casing. Headpiece is a wire with beads, craft foam, and the marabou over that. It clips into my wig with little plastic combs.
Collar, shoe cuffs, and arm warmers are stretch twill, and all of the sheer pieces are pearlized organza. Strung some beads along various places.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I love Speed Grapher, and I don't see much cosplay from it, sadly. It dawned on me to cosplay this particular outfit of Kagura's for a few reasons. While I do like Kagura's school uniform, I wanted to make something a little more detailed and eye catching for Otakon. When I saw the series years ago, I never thought I'd have the courage to make and wear this outfit!
