About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- This costume... A dream come true in so many ways! I've adored Sheeda ever since she had delicious, fabulous 90's anime mullet hair, so when I saw her beautiful Shadow Dragon design, I just had to break down and finally make myself make her!
The wig was bought from the Cosplay.Com marketplace, I honestly have no idea of the brand or style, but I love the color and the fibers, they're so soft and smooth!
The tunic is made from a dark red stretch suiting with interlock cuffs on the sleeves. The gloves are made with the same interlock, with a silver jacquard for the silver designs at the top, which include interfacing on the inside and a fully satin stitched edging.
The belts are blanks I got from Tandy and dyed to their correct color. The stockings are made from a black interlock.
The wrist bangles are made from leather, which I used a grooving tool to cut the designs into, and then took two smaller strips and used leather cement for the edging. They are painted with Dazzling Metallics Elegant Finish acrylic paints.
The toe and heel plates are wet-formed leather that I also used the grooving tool on and then painted with the same paint as the wrist bands.
The shoulder and chest plates are made from foamies, backed with glue, cardboard, and fabric to make them super stiff and durable. All of the raised silver designs are Model Magic, and once everything was completely dry, I coated it in resin to protect it and make it even more durable. Then, I sprayed it down with some primer and attacked it with a fine sanding sponge. Finally, I painted it and then weathered it with acrylics. :)
I can't wait to make her sword and spear, I'll make sure to have them for Katsucon 2012!
