About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I can't even know where to begin on talking about this costume. It took me three solid weeks of working on it to finish and there are still some parts I'd like to work on. My boyfriend basically made the weapon. We modified a wrought iron coat rack bought from IKEA and then the top part is the rest of the box that the coat rack came in reinforced with electrical wiring. I'm missing her owl. I patterned everything out myself and then modified the waist cincher pattern so I could attach three zippers and cinch it up in the back so it fit me the best it could. That's hot pink vinyl that matches all the belts and the boot shin guard bits. I made the stockings, all the belts. Put grommets in all the belt buckle loopy bits. There are 14 belts and then three on the corset part, which I then put onto the half, cage skirt so that it can be attached to my body. I made the sleeves which are two parts. There's a sleeve "petticoat" to poof out my outer sleeves like in Maria's design. I also have two pairs of stockings (which I made from scratch). The white pair has milliner's wire in them to make them kind of expand like Maria's do. The skirt I made of stretchy spandex also from the same materials as one of my stocking pairs. All my trim is appliqued on.
