About this Costume
Construction Details:
How to make a big princessy poof poof dress without spending a fortune: use a bunch of old crap! I had made the top portion years ago for our spread in the EGL Bible, so it was nice to find another use for it. Dress portion is lined with the fabric from my old Sky Dancer dress. Wings are from Sharon Apple, and the wig was once Marty's Amalthea wig that I custom dyed to get the correct gradient. The crown was built off my Aurora crown, and the ears are the same ones from my Ringlets costume with a new paint job. Necklace is made from wire and model magic. I made a horn for the wig, but it somehow managed to make me look even more ridiculous than I already do, so I left it at home.
Personal Thoughts:
So uh, this is all Morgan and Marty's fault, because I knew they wanted to make the gala dresses earlier this year and at that point I'd never even watched an episode of this show. So I sat down and chugged through the entire season and then this happened. I picked Celestia because I didn't think I fit any of the main girls in particular, and I really enjoyed her cameos in all the episodes she was in. I also loved her color scheme and wanted the opportunity to design my own gown for her! Even though I'm not really into this show at all, I'm glad I went through with making this, I had a great time with my friends and we got to meet many fans of the show who recognized us.
