Construction Details:

I took special care to make this costume as accurate as possible due to my love for this character. I want to be sure that I can represent her to the best of my ability! Kyouko really struck a chord with me, and I pretty much had decided that I wanted to cosplay her the moment she showed up in the anime, haha. Even though I wasn't exactly head over heels for her Puella Magi outfit, I decided to make it anyway, and what began as a 'I just want to be Kyouko' project turned into 'I just want to be Kyouko, and OH MAN I LOVE THIS OUTFIT'. In making it, I was careful to try to get all the details right while still getting the costume to look nice on me- which is harder than it looks, because MSMM is drawn in a ridiculous big-headed moe moe style, haha. Real people are not proportioned that way!
Some of the photos I have up now are of the costume and wig before modifications/dyeing; newer photos were taken at AX and Otakon!

Personal Thoughts:

BECOME MEGUCA. I guess I just want to experience suffering. I fell in love with this series just as fast as so many other people did. When I first looked at it I had no idea what the big deal was, but MSMM just has such a beautifully written storyline that's not too complex, and not too simple- it's concise and to the point, and its message hits hard. I can't recommend it enough. If you haven't watched it, go watch it now!
All in all, I love this costume, I love the series, and I could ramble about how awesome Kyouko is forever. I'll definitely be wearing this to more than one con!
