About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- My first Genie jacket was the first one I ever made, so I was unhappy with a lot of things since constructing the damn thing was an entire learning process for me. >___> I used the same pattern, but made modifications where needed, now that I had a better idea of how it fit on me. I also made sure that all the buttons and epaulettes were sewn through the fabric ONLY, not both the fabric and lining so it's much neater on the inside. I couldn't find flat braided cording that I liked, so I'll probably replace the braided cording later... this and the stripes on the epaulette are painted using metallic acrylic paint with textile medium. Oh, and I had the pleasure of hand sewing 20 friggin' buttons yet again, I also did my best to make sure they were "upright" and lined up properly. I "personalized" all the decorations, a few of which are actually borrowed from my other Genie outfit!
- Personal Thoughts:
- I like the navy jacket outfits so much better (seen here in this video), and decided to go ahead and make it as I had enough gabardine leftover from another project. :D I wanted another outfit to wear to Fanime, as my unitard for my Amber from Darker Than Black never arrived on time. I'm extremely happy with how this turned out, especially considering I was crazy and decided to get it all done in like 2 1/2 days time. GENIE YA~

- less than 1 hour
- Wig Quality Rating
- 3 / 5.00
- Styling Notes
- I finally got around to trimming the wig~ yay, it's maybe 2" shorter than I intended to cut it, but I'll just say it's when Jessica was still growing her blonde hair out. ;D Originally the wig was nearly waist length with the ends slightly curled, think Taiga from Toradora! I straightened it and trimmed the back, the bangs are parted and styled with hair spray.
- Wig Review
- I love the color of this wig, styling it however is a bit of a nightmare due to the length of the wig. The fibers of the wig are nice, but it tangles like crap, I have to straighten this thing before and after each time I wear it. Even after I cut off a significant chunk off the wig, it STILL tangled like crap so I'm retiring this thing once I find a replacement...
