Construction Details:

Dress is leather-look vinyl laced together with rawhide. I punched what seemed like a gajillion eyelets into this thing. Also, the suede ruffles running down the front were a pretty trying task. The bolero is probably the coolest article of clothing I have ever made. It has an awesome shape, and the collar is layered with Venice lace and faux fur. The little skulls are made of model-magic and painted with gouache to give them a chalky texture. The boot covers are also suede, and unzip completely along the inside. The giant chakram (this one is Ixion) was made of painted insulation foam. I use the past tense because the thing broke during the Otakon I wore the costume and got tossed that weekend.

Personal Thoughts:

I love this costume so much. It marks the point at which I decided I could plan and construct a difficult costume and be pleased with the result.

Styling Notes

The basic styling of the wig was done by me (it began as a shoulder-length bob), but my friend Karen (Khelil/Ilyat) was an enormous help with the pinwheel pigtails. So much hairspray.
