Construction Details:

I used a pattern for the princess cut busts and nothing else. The dress is made from bridal silk with interfacing to hold the point at the center of the top (and frequent starching). The choker and ribbons are, well, ribbons. The flower and gloves are store bought. The shoes were a lucky thrift store find, painted purple, flattened, and with the straps moved or removed. The amethyst rose earrings and necklace were given to me by my grandmother as a child so even though they aren't exactly accurate I had to use them anyway. I used gold painted square buttons and decorative clear rose buttons with the hook in the back removed and the back painted with purple acrylic paint and the front painted with metallic varnish.

Styling Notes

This wig was cut to just above shoulder level before being dyed. The dying process essentially killed it and it's still not the right color so before I make any further Hotaru/Saturn costumes (and there will be many) I will start over with a new wig. I know many use black wigs for her but the manga images clearly show very dark purple so I will keep trying to get that shade of purple.
