About this Costume
Construction Details:
Where to start... Well Jeanne was going to be my original choice for a Bayonetta character. And it got pushed back when I found fabric that was too good to be true to make a Bayonetta costume. After some encouragement, I started on this project. Two months and a new sewing machine later, this is the result. Fabric is stretch satin, the jumpsuit matte side out while the collar is shiny side out. I did my best to match the seams and stitching from her game render. Thus there are only 3 seams below the arms; one on the right side, one on the left side, and one up the inner legs. Giant pain in the butt to recreate, but well worth the effort. The same applies to the diagonal stitches on the front and back of the costume, all done by hand to get the right look. Guns made out of cardboard and craft foam. Held up extremely well through airport security and walking on stage. Yep. I had gun shoes. The back and leg emblems were all hand embroidered by me and took about two days of work to complete. The wrist bands were a strand of jewelers wire with feathers wrapped around them. Glasses were an old pair of mine that I repainted and refashioned to match Jeanneís. Sadly I couldnít see out of them because my prescription has changed. Buttons were made out of Sculpty. Broach was half of a Christmas ornament and craft foam. Earring is jewelers wire and clay. The only pieces on the costume I didnít make were the wig, which I had to cut and style to match Jeanneís, and the shoes, which were also refinished (painted, straps added) to match the game rendering. Estimate Cost: $94.83 My first costume to have entered a contest and won best overall. Iím still flabbergasted. Yep. I think that word best describes my feelings. While attention on the convention floor was very limited, it was a lot of fun and comfy to walk around in.
