Construction Details:

This costume is turning out to be quite the undertaking. It is already 2 months into the making and I'm looking at probably at least that, if not more to completely finish it.

The bodice is almost done and has 5 hours worth of hand beading along the front design. The skirt will eventually have similar beading.

The trim is all hand sewn on along the skirt and there are beads added along each of the swirls.

I made everything down to the petticoat and hoopskirt, with some modifications to the hoop to help support some of the weight of the fabric used on the skirt. The print is an upholstery fabric that I was able to find at a nearby discount fabric place. The solid gold is poly shantung.

Personal Thoughts:

I really wanted a costume that wasn't anime based to wear to the 2 non-anime conventions that I go to. I was looking for something that was exciting..but not spandex. I love Pirates and even though Captain Jack is my favoite, I knew I wouldn't make a very good one XD So I elected to go with Elizabeth since I love the wedding dress.

Styling Notes

The wig was not quite the color I thought I had ordered but since it was a more natural looking color for me I decided to go with it. I braided some of the hair in the back and spun it around on top to create the bun she has. I then sewed a hair net over to help secure it in place along with a few clips.
