Construction Details:

Before I was confident enough behind a sewing machine, my eternal con mom Rita Smith made this dress for me out of a bolt of slinky red fabric I bought. I drew a modest design of the original gown (Scarlet's neckline goes down to her freaking stomach) and she worked her magic. She also dyed the shoes I bought to match it! This costume was later re-incarnated as Circus Sideshow Sakura.

Personal Thoughts:

Before Otakon '03 I had been playing through FFVII with my then-boyfriend and we had a grand old time with the Tifa/Scarlet Slap Off, and somewhere down that line I thought making Scarlet for Otakon would be fun. The following year I wore it again when my friends all dressed up like Turks for AnimeNext, before Advent Children was even a twinkle in Square's eye.
