Construction Details:

I really love making costumes like these, because it presents the opportunity to play with various layered textures. I ended up picking a lot of heavy denims, leathers/pleathers, suedes, stuff like that, I really love working with fabrics like this 8D When I got stuck, I had fun thinking to myself "what would a soldier wear?"

It was enjoyable trying out some new techniques and learning new things with this costume as well. Making the pauldron, it was my first time using El Wire (and it certainly won't be the last now, holy balls I love this stuff) so it could light up!

I worked on and off for this for a few months, but I worked really hard, and I'm super pleased with the results! It's been a while since I put so much effort into a costume xD

Personal Thoughts:

I LOVE FFXIII, and Lightning. It's been a while since I cared about a female protagonist like this, she's just so badass. I am quite proud of how my sword came out, given the limited access I have to materials :<

I had SO.MUCH.FUN wearing this, it was really really comfortable (with the exception of how hot that jacket gets) and I look really forward to wearing it again for future cons!
