About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I LOVE Utena.
This is the most complex costume I've made yet, and it's currently my favorite! There were many firsts- first time fitting a garment, first time doing buttonholes, first time lining a garment- the whole project was one big learning experience.
The jacket is made out of stretchy twill and the shorts are a cotton knit. I cast the jewel, its trim, the cord cap and the triangles out of resin and then painted them. For the record- casting a piece out of resin with a hollow tube down the middle is more difficult than it would seem! The epaulets were plastic circles which I cut down, painted and then trimmed with model magic. The shoes were painted.
Overall, I'm pleased with the way it turned out, and look forward to cosplaying with my lovely Anthy!
Oh, the sword was made by Mike of Fantasy Props. I've never made a sword before and did not want this to be my first- he did a lovely job.
