About this Costume
Construction Details:
So, long story short, Faye's not actually the first character I'd normally consider cosplaying, but what the heck! Why not? My roomie already had her Edward cosplay, and we were thinking, "Wouldn't it be great if we could have a Bebop group? :D" Of course, being the limited number of female characters in Bebop, the decision wasn't exactly complicated...especially considering how much more summer weather oriented Faye is...so yeah.... Then, of course, another awesome friend agreed to be Spike, and so the group was born!! :D About the costume itself, this was, in fact, my second time working with stretch vinyl, though this was on a much larger scale than my previous project. I'd guess originally that it would take approximately 1 yard of stretch vinyl to make this costume, and at the end, technically, I was completely right. It only took me 2 instead because I spent the whole first yard refining the patterns, and by the time I had them where I wanted, there were so many holes in the vinyl from pins and stitches that I had to scrap round one and buy more vinyl. Lesson learned: plan for patterning... Inside both the top and the shorts, is a simple yellow satin spandex lining, for both comfort and an extra layer as the vinyl itself is rather thin. The wig is Wisp from Cosworx with pretty much no additional styling to it apart from the headband. Time, resources, experience, you name it, I just really didn't want to try attempting to achieve Faye's actual hairline in the show. I'm really happy though with this choice in hair though, so it all works out! :D Yays!
